Beckett Goes Boom

The Sox continue to enjoy their time in the "City of Brotherly Love." Its just a shame I wasn't there to enjoy it.

After Matt Clement's solid outing on Friday, Josh Beckett hit a solo homer, an RBI single and pitched seven solid innings to lead the Red Sox over the struggling Philadelphia Phillies 8-4 on Saturday night. Beckett (6-1) allowed four runs and six hits to win his third straight start and give AL East-leading Boston its 10th victory in 13 games. He became the first Red Sox pitcher to go deep since Marty Pattin on Sept. 26, 1972.

"You never expect to hit a ball off a guy like that," Beckett said, referring to Brett Myers. "You're just happy to put the bat on the ball. He happened to throw where I was swinging."

Sox - Yanks for three games in Fenway starting tonight... Unfortunately we don't get to see Beckett go at them again but with Schill, Wake, and the artist formerly known as Matt Clement, we have a shot at taking 2/3 games going up against Chien Ming-Wang, Jaret Wright and The Corpse of Randy Johnson (who is KILLING my fantasy team). After mailing in yesterday's game against Philly the Sox should be rested after traveling back late yesterday afternoon to Boston. The Yankees, meanwhile, played the Mets and got into Boston late last night / early this morning.
Look for Curt to be strong tonight and attack a depleted Yankee lineup who still has Balco Jr. wearing #25 swinging a good stick.

Nice post CT Sox fan. Good to see your able to follow the games over there. With Wells coming back one has to wonder if this will affect Clemens decision. Are they good friends? b/c Clemen's would surely push Wells out of the rotation. The way the Yankees staff looks right now I would not be surprised if Steinbrener offers the Rocket 25mm

Ahh Sox fan,

The boyz and I enjoyed the tickets to Philly (we are just getting down from the stairway to heaven...any higher and I would have to be on a plane!)

The games on Friday and Saturday were excellent from what I can remember! I would like to recommend Show and Tell as an additional stop to any Philly's game...unbelievable!

Hope you are enjoying Europe..Look kids, Big Ben, Parliment...I just can't get left!
